Home in Kona! Yesterday, I looked at the live camera from the airport and noticed their “pack mentality.” The whole flock was bunched up and walking the fence line. It made me nervous.
Only a couple hours later, the phone rang, they were outside their field and walking on the road. So off to Waimea I go. When checking the live feed now, I could see two sheep looking around their nice pasture for everybody else who walked out on them.
Without strong fences, they will always get out. I also suspect some started jumping over the fence, which might mean raising that electric wire up with four lines instead of three. I would love to bring them to a paddock here in Kona next to the campus so they can eat all they want and I can break their cycle of escaping.
Sheep naturally will keep going unless they are stopped. Bad habits are formed and that creates a scenario where their provider now has to disciple them.
