In the night my heart pondered, “Seek first the kingdom of God…” In the morning I’m pondering this statement in a podcast I listened to. It’s this and I’ll return to stories again another day.

And he says, too often, these characteristics of the blessings here have in Christian history been turned into ideals or virtues that we must strive to attain. Poor in spirit, mourn, meek, hunger and thirst, merciful, pure in heart, and so on. When we do that, we turn them into formulas that help us gain status and favor with God.”
