Do you trust me?

Every sheep, whether here in Kona or in Waimea, are a unique blend of: ones that trust me, ones that are extremely fearful, ones that don’t take much convincing to follow, and more. So when I let the flock onto the paved road next to the preschool, I have no idea of how well it will go. Usually, a leader will set the pace, but the followers can mess it up.

If I can be in front and they pay attention to me, staying close, we get to the destination quite easily. However, that’s not what happened. They raced, jumped, and detoured onto the longer and harder path. Even at the gate, the separation between fearful and calm ones became evident. I walked into the field calling them, and some came, some stayed busy eating the grass outside their field, and some were far too afraid to get close. However, for each group, I used the needed strategy suited to their personality. Jesus knows you well, his intentions for you provide safety, security, and purpose in ways we haven’t comprehended. He is worthy of our trust.
