How I view the Bible these days entered a different phase this year. It’s similar to what happens in our Word by Heart schools within YWAM. Students in that school enter the Bible story written down by asking how the writer felt, what the writer saw, where it took place, and what the writer’s worldview is. This often alludes to the backstory, the first part of the Bible.
With the help of Tim Mackie’s sermons (which I still check via scripture references), I’ve entered the story and relate to it differently in the sense of viewing it from the eyewitness’s angle. These ones who wrote down God’s words are attempting to communicate not in code but in concepts that at times work fine in our day, and other parts bother us because it doesn’t fit our modern worldview.
This exploration of scripture shook me to the core multiple times. “Wisdom,” which almost resided as “surface only,” has bloomed like a flower and wafted a very enticing fragrance. I’m eager to partake in these daily bread encounters. This expanding worldview caused me to grow in knowing and expressing God’s love and wisdom.
