Condo updates

April 17, 2025 – Need $100,000

The amazing story continues. Being selected to purchase this home is God’s glorious intervention in this journey. Also I’ve been offered up to $190,000 with a 3% interest rate. This is contingent on raising the rest of the funds. I’ve offered my IRA which has taken a $3,000 hit during this season. Funds in my bank total $13,000, all gifts given by many donors. Thank you so much, and I’m grateful to God’s leading for each of them. The goal has been revised to $100,000 as mortgage brokers tell me they want to put a lien on this land trust if they offer me a loan. My reality correction about getting a loan from a bank happened a week ago, and I’ve been scared to announce it to all of you. May the Lord bless you and keep you and remember co-founder Darlene Cunningham’s testimony which is my paraphrase. “God keeps adding another zero to the funds we needed to keep the lights on.”

April 3, 2025 – Price reduced by $80,000

My sheep are staying in their field! The closing of my home purchase is happening soon! I have two people coming to help me with the wayward sheep on Saturday!

The best news is that my home price was reduced by $80,000. It looks like a private loan is available, and I’ll report later if they cover the needed purchase price or if two lenders will be needed. Two huge answers to prayer! On Tuesday, my housemates and I welcomed another YWAM Kona staff member into our home for the next three months until she leaves for various outreach locations with her April quarter DTS students.

I’m so thankful for this news, so excited, and also aware of needing $10,000 very soon. This covers closing costs and increases the total downpayment. I’m so thankful that God provided that same amount during February. As the Lord leads, consider a gift at this time.

December 1, 2024 – My home of 16 years is on the market

I recently learned my Hualalai Village condo is for sale. I moved into this condo in 2007 and up until now, 50 YWAM women have lived here.

After 22 years with YWAM Kona I feel my home is symbolic to a mountain of Douglas fir trees where deer, birds, and squirrels live. Roots mix together underneath to give trees the strength to stay upright in a storm. Various types of trees and plants have its own structure and purpose. Multiple species of plants gather air and light from above and vital nutrients from the soil.

Life thrives in this Hualalai Village “forest.” Can you help me purchase this condo?

The rent from the condo goes into a scholarship fund for the qualifying students of other nations to attend second-level schools, like community development schools and stewardship and sustainability schools. Howard Malmstadt gave up a professorship career to found this University. He is the one who coined “A University of the Spirit.”

November 25, 2024 – Prayers and Provision

Josh Jensen and University of the Nations, Kona President David Hamilton prayed with me regarding buying a Hualalai Village condo. Seven remaining condos rented to campus staff are being sold. One of these units has been my residence for 14 years, and 50 different women lived here at some point.

Josh prayed about the story of the widow with two sons about to become slaves because of creditors. 2 Kings 4:1–7. Elisha asked, “What do you have in your house?” The widow answered, “One jar of oil.” I’ve made a similar offer, which God can multiply. Now my question is, may I have your “vessels” so God can provide the oil, the means by which I and four other women can continue living in our home? A vessel can be $20 to $100, or you could make a far more substantial gift. With God, this impossible gift of a condo and home becomes possible.

Earlier – A Jericho Moment

It’s a new day in the way God meets us, knows us, and redeems us. He does this in a way that disarms us. His story comes about as he revamps how we receive his goodness. It goes beyond intellectual concepts and into experiences similar to a mother’s interactions. Real time, real touch, real wisdom. How does he know how many hairs are on our heads? Why? His intimacy is freely offered.

This safe place in God exists now, yet I confess it’s challenging for me to feel safe when facing a Jericho moment regarding purchasing this Hualalai Village condo. Following God’s pattern means anticipating deliverance like when the tribe walked around the walls of Jericho. While I trust God, the act of walking around the walls seems foolish in human eyes, including the banks.

I’m humbly asking that you walk with me and those who live in this condo to overcome the financial walls needed to purchase this home.
